Upsolar’s mission since the company’s inception has been to provide the global PV market an opportunity to purchase a “made in China” product of market leading quality, at competitive price. The company has since developed its focus on providing an excellent product, meeting all international quality standards while offering the most competitive prices available from a Chinese manufacturing base.

Upsolar’s performance has been very impressive; having shipped over 60 MW in 2008 and 95 MW in 2009, with sales of close to 172 Million USD, and estimates to reach 250MW in 2010. The cornerstone of Upsolar’s success has been the rigorous quality-control management protocol we have developed. Upsolar employees implement these online QC Management standards at all partner manufacturing facilities in collaboration with 3rd party QC management provider, Bureau Veritas; helping Upsolar to continually improve upon these processes while conducting audits of all Upsolar products prior to shipment. Combined with our in-house R & D center, industry standard warranties, performance guarantee through innovative insurance coverage and international presence, Upsolar can guarantee its customer-base an extremely reliable PV module, providing protection from power-loss or supply-shortages.

Upsolar tests and selects the highest quality components from the top photovoltaic materials suppliers to produce dependable, top quality PV modules. To ensure that Upsolar modules are built to last, technicians at our R & D Center are constantly conducting tests to measure and ensure Upsolar modules have the ability to withstand the assault of time and weather for more than 25 years ( Thermal cycling, Humidity Freeze, Damp Heat, UV preconditioning test, Hot-spot, Reverse current overload test etc.).

Upsolar strictly executes its unique Online Quality control protocol by rigorously checking the conformity of materials, continually improving the efficiency of module assembly processes and the specifications of the final products. Upsolar employs its own quality control team of highly qualified technicians which provide a permanent presence at our partner manufacturing facilities.

Upsolar Online Quality Control protocol is under permanent audit by 3rd party QC provider, Bureau Veritas. Every shipment of Upsolar product is tracked and traced by an inspection report witnessed by Bureau Veritas.

Upsolar also implements an offline quality control protocol, conducting tests on components, assembled parts and final products. This process of batch-testing randomly and at any change of specifications, components or modification in assembly processes, ensures that Upsolar produces the best quality modules while maintaining continuous production flow. This combination of online QC management protocol, offline QC testing and enlisting the services of Bureau Veritas has lead to an efficient module manufacturing process and an extremely reliable product.

Upsolar’s high quality products could not be produced without the implementation of first class equipment at our production partner’s manufacturing facilities, such as Roth & Rau, Applied Materials/Baccini, Spire, ASYS and NPC.  Upsolar also maintains strong relationships with best-of-breed components and materials suppliers such as Tyco, MC, Saint-Gobain, Isovolta, Bridgestone and Dow Corning. This combination of top-tier manufacturing equipment and module components enable Upsolar to produce some of the highest quality, dependable PV modules in the world, preventing Upsolar customers from encountering substantial output power loss during the 25 year life of their modules.

Upsolar ramp up to higher efficiency

Following the trends in the PV industry which always tends to propose higher power output, Upsolar is now extending its power range for their monocrystalline series.
Standard 72 cells (UP-MM series) are now available from 165Wp to 195Wp, thanks to the production of larger ingots (diameter 165mm).

At the same time, Upsolar’s Black Series will now increase its output range from 160Wp to 190Wp.

Thanks to our state of the art Research Center, we are now conducting a series of tests to select the best components. Several of the leading brands of Junction Boxes, TPT, EVA, Glass, Silicone, Frame, are assembled  and tested in our laboratory in Shanghai.

According to the results of these tests (in climatic chambers, outdoors, in the water etc.), we are able to choose only the best for our clients throughout the world. At the same time, our cells are thoroughly checked at our production platforms in order to always optimize the output of our products.

Upsolar receives “very good” from German Öko-Test magazine

Following the independent testing results of the German magazine Öko-Test (April 2010), China based Upsolar was rated “very good” among 15 international solar photovoltaic suppliers.

Only 4 companies obtained a “very good” rating, and Upsolar was the only one of 7 Chinese companies to achieve this. This is major achievement for Upsolar and reflects the quality of its products.

The testing, done by Photon laboratory on behalf of Öko-Test, focused on the actual power output when compared to the data sheet, tolerances, module efficiency, cell quality, as well as performing tests for micro cracks.  Upsolar’s product was rated “very good” (test performed on recently optimized series UP-M185M seen above).
